How many porta potties does a festival need?

A festival needs 1 standard unit per 50 guests for up to 4 hours, 1 per 40 for 4 to 8 hours, and 1 per 30 beyond 8 hours. Add 1 unit for every 4 when alcohol is sold. A 2,000-person, 6-hour street festival with beer needs 50 + 13 = 63 units.

How should units be clustered at a festival?

Cluster festival units in banks of 10 to 20 near entrances, food courts and stages, with at least 1 accessible unit in every cluster. The 2010 ADA Standards (§213.2) require 5% of units in each cluster to be accessible. Put hand-wash stations at the exit side of each bank.

Rule text: 2010 ADA Standards §213.2. Confirm requirements with your permit office.

What permits cover festival restrooms in Odessa and Midland?

In Odessa, a special event permit is filed with the Odessa Police Department at least 21 days before the event, with a $25 fee and a site sketch showing restroom locations. In Midland, the special event permit is filed 15 days ahead and asks how many portable toilets you will provide.

What service schedule keeps festival units usable?

Multi-day festivals need every unit serviced between days, and events over 8 hours need a mid-event restock. We pump, sanitize and restock each bank before gates open. Large events can add an on-site attendant for paper and sanitizer runs.

Questions renters ask before they book

Callers ask these 6 questions before they book. The first two are “What would you recommend for a large event of about 1,000 people?” and “Can you do better if I rent more than one?” Every answer below leads with the direct fact, then lists the exceptions. A dispatcher can answer anything else on the phone.

What would you recommend for a large event of about 1,000 people?

For 1,000 guests over 4 hours, plan 20 standard units, plus 5 more if alcohol is served. At least 2 of those units should be wheelchair-accessible to meet the 5% rule for public events. Add 13 hand-wash stations if food is served.

Can you do better if I rent more than one?

Yes. Orders of 3 or more units on one address share one delivery trip, which lowers the cost per unit. Large events of 10 units or more get a volume quote. Ask the dispatcher for the multi-unit price when you call.

Does it come with a lock? It'll be out in public.

Yes. We can add a lock hasp at no charge. You supply the padlock and give the code or key to your crew. Tell us at booking so the driver installs it.

Will the wind knock it over?

We stake or strap units at windy sites and open lots. West Texas gusts can top 60 mph during spring storms. Place units next to a fence or building when you can, with the door facing away from the wind.

Can you direct-bill us? We're a business or government agency.

Yes. Businesses and agencies can apply for net-30 billing. Approval usually takes 1 to 2 business days. Government and tax-exempt buyers should send a tax-exemption certificate with the order.

Is tax added to that, or is that the total?

Texas sales tax is added to rental charges and shown as its own line on your quote. Tax-exempt groups, such as churches, schools and government agencies, pay no tax once we have the exemption certificate on file.
