What is inside a standard porta potty?

A standard porta potty has a toilet seat over a 60-gallon holding tank, a urinal, a toilet paper holder, a hand sanitizer dispenser, a coat hook and an occupancy latch. A translucent roof lets daylight in. It has no sink and no flush. The tank is treated with deodorizer before every delivery.

Will a standard porta potty fit through my gate?

A standard porta potty fits through a gate with at least 48 inches of clear width. The PolyJohn PJN3 is 43.5 inches wide, and the crew needs a few inches on each side to tilt and roll it on a dolly. Narrower gates mean placement in the driveway or front yard instead.

  • Measure the narrowest point: gate post to gate post, not the gate panel.
  • Overhead clearance: the unit is 91 inches tall, so watch low tree limbs and carports.
  • Path: the crew needs a firm path. Loose gravel and deep sand are fine for a dolly for about 50 feet.
  • Service: on jobsites, the truck must park within about 50 feet so the hose reaches the tank.

How many people can one standard porta potty serve?

One standard porta potty serves about 50 guests at a 4-hour event, or a crew of up to 10 workers for a 40-hour week with weekly service. Those are Zachary Rental Works planning figures, not manufacturer ratings. PolyJohn does not publish a use count for the PJN3.

When is a standard porta potty the wrong choice?

A standard porta potty is the wrong choice for wheelchair users, for long food-service events without a sink, and for formal weddings where guests expect a flush. Pair it with a hand-wash station, swap in a wheelchair-accessible unit, or step up to a deluxe flushing unit or restroom trailer.

Questions renters ask before they book

Here are 7 real customer questions with direct answers, beginning with “How much is a porta potty rental in Odessa?” and “Is there a price difference between event units and construction units?” Short answers come first, followed by the details that change them. Any prices shown are starting prices, not final quotes.

How much is a porta potty rental in Odessa?

A standard porta potty for a one-day event starts at $199, and that includes delivery, setup and pickup inside Odessa city limits. A standard jobsite unit starts at $225 per 28-day cycle with weekly service included, plus a one-time delivery and pickup charge that starts at $75. Your exact price depends on your address, dates, unit type, servicing and quantity, so call (432) 239-8866 for an itemized quote.

Is there a price difference between event units and construction units?

Yes. Event units are billed as one flat event rate (from $199) with no mid-rental servicing. Construction units are billed per 28-day cycle (from $225) with weekly pumping, cleaning and restocking. Event units are kept for events only, so they are the cleanest-looking units in our yard.

Does it come with toilet paper and everything?

Yes. Every unit arrives with toilet paper and a hand sanitizer dispenser. Units with sinks also get soap and paper towels. Jobsite units are restocked at each weekly service visit.

Will it fit through my side gate?

A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide, so your gate needs at least a 48-inch clear opening plus room for two crew members. A wheelchair-accessible unit is 62 inches wide and usually goes through a driveway, not a side gate.

Does it come with a lock? It'll be out in public.

Yes. We can add a lock hasp at no charge. You supply the padlock and give the code or key to your crew. Tell us at booking so the driver installs it.

How often do you clean it?

Jobsite units get one service visit each week. Each visit includes pumping the tank, scrubbing and sanitizing the seat, walls and urinal, and restocking paper and hand sanitizer. Event units arrive clean and stocked, and short events do not need a visit.

Will the wind knock it over?

We stake or strap units at windy sites and open lots. West Texas gusts can top 60 mph during spring storms. Place units next to a fence or building when you can, with the door facing away from the wind.
